Change of Government

How has Italy's government changed through time?

  • At first, Italy's government started as a monarchy ruled by a king and changed to a democratic republic.
  • The major reason for this change is that the monarchy was abolished due to a popular referundum(vote on an issue of public importance). Many citizens wanted a say in the government and did not want to invest all power on one king.
